The System on Asking for Leave for International Students of
Taiyuan Normal University
In order to strengthen the good studying disciplines, maintain well-organized teaching implementation and ensure the safety of international students, the System on Asking for Leave is stipulated hereafter.
Chapter I Regulations of the System on Asking for Leave
Clause 1 International students, who cannot attend class on time because of physical discomfort, should ask for sick leave. When the students get over sickness, they are required to submit hospital certificates and relevant testimonial materials to report back after leave of absence. If the students cannot go through the procedures in time due to sudden indispositions, they must inform their instructor to confirm it; otherwise they will be counted as absence from class.
Clause 2 Sick leave is only inspected and vetted by the instructor in charge of his/her class. Any permission for leave by other offices or staff is invalid.
Clause 3 Apart from the sick leave, international students generally are prohibited to ask for leave during the term examinations. If they have to ask for absence, they are required to apply for it and to be approved by the instructor in charge of his/her class in advance no matter how long the absence would be.
Clause 4 If international students plan to travel out of the university, they must write clearly the route of the trip, transportation tools, entourage, contact information and reasons.
Chapter II Permission on Ask for Leave
Asking for leave within three days should be vetted and signed for approval by the instructor of international students. Asking for leave within a week should be vetted and signed for approval by the Administrator in charge of International Student Affairs, while asking for leave for more than a week should be vetted and signed for approval by the Director of International Cooperation and Exchanges.
Chapter III Application for Extension of the Leave
If international students can’t come back to school on time due to special reasons, they are required to explain their reasons and apply for extending their leaves to the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges. If not, they will be regarded as absence from class.
Chapter IV The Others
Clause 1 Reasons for asking for leave must be truthful. Any fraud or false reason will lead to corresponding punishments depending on its seriousness.
Clause 2 If international students break the rules of asking for leave, they will be regarded as absence and truancy. The truancy hours will be accumulated according to the actual teaching hours every day.
Clause 3 This system is formulated and interpreted by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges.
